Violence Against Women Office restructures and strengthens the criminal justice system's response to crimes of violence committed against women, in particular, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, and enhances the services available to victims of such violence through the award of formula and discretionary grants to States, units of local government, Indian tribal governments, and other public and private entities in rural States.
